Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe, as you hold out the word of life - Phil 2:14-16.

Ladies - read this book!

'In Trouble And In Joy' Sharon James

This is an easy and encouraging read. It contains the biographies of 4 women who loved and served God; Margaret Baxter (wife of Richard), Sarah Edwards (wife of Jonathan), Anne Steele and Frances Ridley Havergal.

A short biog is given for each woman followed by a critique of each one's character and significance. Also included are extracts from original sources and notes for futher reading. You can read it through or dip in and out. Sharon James intends it to be a short anthology.

It is definitely worth a read, see you identify with...

What is particualrly encouraging, in each case, is that they are different women, living in different times and different places, each with a deep love for God, the same God who is never changing and never ceasing, whose grace faileth never. Their lives, lived in faith are witness to God's grace.

...a hymn and a prayer...

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing,
Always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.
Frances Ridley Havergal, 1874
